I am currently a post-doc researcher at the Research Lab Computational Technologies and Applications (Faculty of Computer Science) at the University of Vienna. I joined the Department of Faculty of Computer Science in September 2005. From September 2005 until October 2006 I worked as project assistant, and from February 2006 until February 2010 as a research associate and PhD student.
I received my bachelor’s and master’s degree in Business Informatics from the University of Vienna in 2004 and 2005, respectively, and my PhD degree (Dr.techn.) in Computer Science from the University of Vienna in February 2010.
My main research interests are in supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms and their combination with several dimensionality reduction methods based on low-rank approximations, with a focus on their combination possibilities, their simplification (e.g., initialization of NMF algorithms), their interpretation (e.g., different variants of computing low-rank approximations), their parallelization/distribution (e.g., multi-core, multi-processor and computer cluster architecture) and their high-performance aspects (e.g., faster codes, better algorithms).
I am giving lectures closely related to my research with focus on data mining methods for drug discovery applications, as well as on technical basics, system software, and internet technologies.
