Towards Self-Organizing Cloud Markets Fostering Intermediaries


A Cloud marketplace facilitates both buyers and sellers to trade Cloud services. Currently, alternatives to the widely used supermarket approach are gaining popularity, e.g. consumers can bid for virtual machines in Amazon E2C spot market. The scientific community goes one step ahead and envisions highly dynamic market forms e.g by using autonomous multi-round bilateral negotiations (Bazaar-based negotiations) between consumers and providers. In this paper, we extend the consumer-provider relationships by considering service chains with additional market participants called intermediaries. We formally describe such consumer-intermediary-provider service chains on Cloud markets. Based on the formal description we introduce the first market simulation environment based on CloudSim which allows to simulate Cloud markets on which consumers, providers and intermediaries are participating.
